Dear Family and Friends:
Sharon S. our out-patient chemotherapy house guest and her sweet husband, Merrill wanted to share recent photos taken before and after chemotherapy. They are asking for prayers for Sharon as she has been through some difficult trials since she began chemotherapy January 4, 2022. What they want you to see is the joy each has for each other. In support of Sharon, Merrill shaved his head too! Sharon had developed a bacterial infection from her IV port causing a temporary stop of cancer therapy, required IV antibiotics, and a new port placed yesterday. They resume her treatments next week. Sharon has become so weak she requires a wheelchair just to get from their car to the Carriage house. How thankful we are for Philip Napier’s design for the wheelchair ramp! Her daughters have been exchanging weeks of treatment to be here to assist mom with her care. Merrill has also shared with us that the cancer has now invaded both of Sharon’s eyes and she is going blind. They don’t know if this will be reversible. More opportunities for prayer! Sharon is just 78 years old.
Jerry Smith, our cardiac rehab houseguest and his sweet wife had to leave the Vineyard when sadly they both contracted Covid. Both are doing well per Lynne, his wife. Showing you graduation day for Jerry from the out-patient rehabilitation center in Defuniak Springs, FL as of last week! Jerry and Lynne had been with us since early October 2021. She shared with me that they meet with the kidney transplant doctors and team on February 15, 2022. Pray Jerry will be able to get off dialysis and receive his kidney transplant!
Update on our Impact 100 Grant: The stand-alone generator has been ordered! As you know, items like these are on back-order. Could be 6-8 months. We are in the permitting phase for new renovations here at the Vineyard. Refinishing existing chifforobes to be used in the bedrooms and, as linen closets. Continue repainting the existing trim and walls of the interior and updating all our literature to our new address. Thanks so much to workers and volunteers who help us achieve all of this.
Lots going on! Please continue to pray for our families. Covid has impacted us in our ability to accept new families here. Protecting ourselves, volunteers, workers, and families that stay here are high on our priority list. Stay safe and stay well!!!
Blessings to all of you, Love Always in His Name!
